The countdown to 100 Surfboards!

The countdown to 100 Surfboards!

Hello there!

Can you believe that it is February already!

Although January hasn’t been as productive as I would have liked in the painting department - I have managed to make good progress on my first commissioned surfboard of 2025 and taken a couple of deposits for painting spots.

You may have heard via social media that I have made the decision that once I reach my goal of 100 surfboards, I will be closing my commission surfboard order book to focus on other projects! It is time to close the surfboard collection or 'quiver'.

I am now currently working on surfboard number 87 but with the injury to my arm (biceps tendinitis) I am finding painting the surfboards a lot harder than the canvas as my easel does not sit high enough for me to stand while I paint. My bad posture is also another factor that is adding to the stress on my arm. I am looking after my arm focussing on resting it as much as possible as it heals as this is my livelihood and I would be lost if I couldn’t paint! With all of this in mind I have made the decision to make surfboard number 100 my LAST commissioned surfboard!

I have 5 surfboards currently in my order book which means after these I then have only 9 surfboard painting spots left to fill! This does not mean that I will be stopping my painting. This just means I will be focussing more on working on canvases on an adjustable easel that will make it easier for me to look after my arm. These will also give me a lot more options for expanding my collection of prints and show my work in the future. I may still paint on the occasional surfboard but I just won’t be painting any more commissioned boards.

Photos and details of all 100 surfboards are going to be collated and published in a book that will be available to purchase. This will document the journey and processes behind turning these old surfboards into pieces of collectable bespoke art. Including concept sketches, progress pictures and the story behind the individual surfboards and the artwork.

So if you would like to own one of the last commissioned surfboards in my collection of 100 boards please send me a message or follow the link below to secure one of the limited spots.

Please send me a message if you would like any more details about the process.

Thank you for all of your support so far this year!
