Whangamatā Beach No. 2
Whangamatā Beach may be one of New Zealand's most well-known surf spots, but like all surf breaks it can be a long wait for the good days. Shifting sands, winds and swells must all align to create the ideal conditions for perfect surf. While the barrelling wave painted on this retired Mayhem surfboard might be a rare occurrence at Whangamatā, you can bet that everyone that has surfed this beach on a good day will have a memory of at least one wave that looks just like this in their mind.
